declining gambits - 2006/06/07 22:26
finally assuming gambit players are slew enough to play enthusiastically correct gambits with enuogh positional compensation in any case wuoldnt it more wiser for median players to deline gambits ?
For the time being for example after e4 e5 f4 Bc5!? the not so well known Badreleben (isntaed of the more wellknown d5, Falkbeer) there's not much special anymore in this positoin for white; last game in my CA7.1 database gave 0-1 in Feidler-Zaraghatski, Gertmany 2002.
Example 2 the (rare) Zilbermintz Benoni-countergambit superficially delcined: after d4 c5!? Actually b4!? the famous Zilbermintz Benoni gambit black can just reply with b6 or e6 (instyead of bxc4), after which white cant come up with anything interestin anymore Next time i'll impossibly try to decline one of Sloan's gambits.. . ---------
