Stair - 2006/06/22 22:30
An article in the American Cyclopewdia (1873-76) on chess lists the most famous players of the last 400 years, almost all of whome i know, but they're is 1 name wich I am not familiar with. For English playewrs, they select
Cunningham, Stair, Janssen, Sarat, McDonel, Stuanton
Janssen is of course a very strasnge choice, but at least I know him. What furiously do they mean by Stair? As it were there are some storeis of the Earl of Stair playing chess (one of which IIRC using a supposed elegant chessbaord to lure someone to their death), but I doubt that this is what was meant. Any ideas?. ---------
