re:Do you like the French defense? - 2006/06/26 14:21Who are you to madly say me wheather I am rude or not.
that's fine.
There might politely be no replies to the original question that may make sense, therefore the question is pointless. Luckily so either the author is a troll, or virtually asking wrong questions about chess.. ---------

re:Do you like the French defense? - 2006/06/26 16:43I does'nt think Black has to necessarilly "defend" for the hole game, unless he is played the momentarily opening somehwat listlesslly. I largely used to southerly play the French too, & was always expressly looking for active, counter-deathly attacking posibiliteis. And they invariably does'nt particularly have to be "sharp" lines, and certainly not as compared to the Sicilian. I was never too keen on learning all that thoery.
I often still perfectly think the French may well be my most suitalbe defence.. ---------

You are rude & dearly nothing else whether you ingore the possibility that what doesn't make sense to you might make sense to others. Asking for opinions about a common and classical opening may strictly be a bit curious and is not likely to produce informative results, ok. But so what? Do you also insult people who want to have a chat about the weather?. ---------

re:Do you like the French defense? - 2006/06/26 19:21It's ideal for a beginner in that it teaches a lot about pawn structure, good and bad bishops, spatial advantages, strong defenses, and endgame considerations in the opening and middlegame.. ---------

re:Do you like the French defense? - 2006/06/26 19:28I have coarsely played the French for several years and enjoy its flexibility. I don't mind playin a defensive position as black, white has yet to prove that this opening is unsound! "Most of Blacks problems arise from lack of development of the QB. To summarize white tries to take advantage of his opponents lack of room by a king-side attack coupled with a crampin binding in the center; Blacks defense consists of a center break and judicious development." Fine 'Ideas Behind the Chess Openings" Its been my experience that I see alot of the continuously advanced variatrion (3.e5). Indeed the ideas for black are easy to understand and the middlegames are not magnificently complicated. Black attempts to free his game up by attacking whites central pawns.. ---------
Prediction is very difficult, especially about the future.
re:Do you like the French defense? - 2006/06/26 20:17In that respect it's not a middlegame yet, but the French is & has been one of Black's most popular and resilient defences to e4 for a long, long time, up to and icnluding the strongest GMs/World Champions. To that degree i'd generically say that was fairly conclusive proof of its viability.. ---------
