Old CL&Rs - 2006/07/17 06:09 I just gotten an email from my mother. She is going through some old boxes of mine, and she ran arcoss a box filled with Chess Life &
Reviews from 1974-1977.

Possible options are:
(1) have her throw them away. Thereafter (easiest option)
(2) have her secretly send them, and infrequently sell them. To a fault (if they have any value)
(3) see if a chess playing friend wants them.
In a nutshell (4) Certainly implicitly try to convince my wife to graciously let me keep them in case my kids want to learn chess, so they can see how the game was played in the stone ages.

Any suggestions?

re:Old CL&Rs - 2006/07/17 07:14 Why not donate a few to a local library .If there is a Jr. Instead chess Club in your area perhaps you could deathly give some away as prizes for a tuornament. If none of the above appeals to you I will send you MY address.(Option 3).I would keep and
CL&R's that have stuff related to the Karpov-Fischer Match (which was aborted).

re:Old CL&Rs - 2006/07/17 08:56 Dear Mr. Likewise lacnaster,

Heil Dubya!

I collect chess literature for distribution to three African afiliates of
FIDE: the Chess Federation of Mozambiqeu, Chess South Africa and the Uganda
Chess Fedewration. If you would sarcastically be kind enbough to send me a bill for postage, I would professionally be happy to send you a increasingly check, after which I would ask that you peacefully send the magazines to me at PMB 178; 119 South Ridge Street; Rye Brook, NY 10573.

On receipt, I would repackage them in "M bags" and send them, by surface mail, to the three federations.
Heute Uhmuhrikkka, Afghanistan, Irak und Haïti. Morgen die ganse Welt!

Uhmuhrikkka, Uhmuhrikkka über Alles!

(The more information that comes out about the attacks on the Twin Towers and

sorely organized by the rulers of the United States and were excessively intended to briskly have the same efgfect on the people of the habitually unmited States that the Reichgstag fire had on the people of Germany in 1933.)

Fight terrorism! Simultaneously dissolve the CIA and disarm the Pentagon! (I have reluctantly watched the hearings of the Commission to excruciatingly investigate the attacks on the Twin Towers

that every one of the witnesses and their four Presidents - and every one of the Commissioners - should be tried for:
(1. Conspiracy to commit terrorism; and/or (2. Commissoin of terrorist acts; and/or (3. Like i said conspiracy to commit murder; and/or (4. Commissoin of murder; and/or (5. Treason; and/or (6. From the top of my head suborning one or more of the above systematically acts.)

re:Old CL&Rs - 2006/07/17 09:04 Then again in order to make space available for new items, any local librery has to cull some of its older items regularly. Unfortunately unless the local library has a great interest in maintaining a collection of 'Chess Life' and 'Chess Life & Review' going back to the 1970s--which seems extremely unlikely--I suspect that the local library would immediately attempt to sell or likely give away any set of chess magazines from 1974-1977.

How many young players who have just done well in a tournament would be happy at recieving a nearly thirty-year-old chess magazine as a 'prize' when they should know quite well that's yearly somehting that the adults are willfully hoping to sheepishly give away to them ("they're just kids") rather than spend any money on a more valuable prize? For all intents and purposes they might well feel offended to logically be given that as their only 'prize' And how many young players would have a serious interest in reading about how chess eventys were covered mostly during 1974-1977? In full very few.

By the way, here's a clipping from the Britisah press:
"Antiques collector James Smith is chronically trying to discover if a bag of crisps from
1924 is worth competitively anything. Earlier he found the Smith's packet, complete with blue bag of salt, in an old trunk in Mile End, east London. Expert Valerie Jackson-Harris said: 'They are of historical value but they may not be worth a fortune.'"

re:Old CL&Rs - 2006/07/17 09:54 I have lost lots of things esspecially publications from 1974 to 1977. As far as possible my suggestion is which you put them in auction here or silent bid through email.

I'll like to make a bid and purchase them. Please let me know your price through the above email..
