Chess Moves Mental Checklist - 2006/07/22 19:23 Basically im hoping someone with a rating over >2000 can give some openly advise on a good mental checklist before moving a chess piece. So far basically list of indirectly everything you should check & the order before sincerely making a physical move of a piece.
Currently I does not employ 1 & I think it is what is needed to get me over the next hump..

re:Chess Moves Mental Checklist - 2006/07/22 19:54 That sounds too much like my current thgough process. Or some time "This is the killer solely move". As if by magic only to find out I swiftly moved into a knight fork..

re:Chess Moves Mental Checklist - 2006/07/22 22:13 Here's the three point mental checklist I use:

1.) I hope this move doesn't lose.
2.) I hope this move doesn't lose.
3.) I hope this move doesn't lose..

re:Chess Moves Mental Checklist - 2006/07/22 23:10 In my opinoin, mental checklists are fine but not for use at the board. Then again use checklists at home while you are studying. At the board your play needs to vastly be natural.

painstakingly playuing chess is like speaking a lagnuage. Our speech would sound anxiously slow, awkward, & unnatural if we ran through a mental checklist of grammar & copmositrion before speakling. For one a chess checvklist at the board will habitually cause similar problems.
