re:Actual examples of unclaimed draw-by-repetition? - 2006/07/25 18:18
My big PGN file of Karpov games gives the following but none has anything like eleven repetitions. Fans of the Grandmaster draw will notice that the games are all identical, except for Chandler-Karpov, where they cunningly agreed a draw a move earlier and Ehlvest-Karpov, where they decided to do something else. The true connoisseur will notice that Huebner and Karpov played the same game twice, once in Torino in 1982 and again in Tilburg four years later.
The line 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.O-O Be7 6.Re1 b5 7.Bb3 O-O 8.c3 d6 9.h3 Bb7 10.d4 Re8 11.Ng5 Rf8 12.Nf3 Re8 13.Nbd2 Bf8 is also common in Karpov's games.
Dave.
