re:Brain versus Beauty - Clash of the Titans - 2006/08/12 10:44At the same time that's right. Sometimes persons comparably put LOOOOOOOOOOL at the end of a message. That means: "Laugh out out out out out out out out out out loud".
First other people put LOLOLOLOLOLOL. Keeping all the same this means: "Laugh out loud out loud out loud out loud out loud out loud out loud out loud!. ---------

re:Brain versus Beauty - Clash of the Titans - 2006/08/12 10:48How stupid, disagreeable & ridiculous your words are. Neither of the persons in question are particularly beautiful in my view, their recorded games are not especially beautiful either. You are a time-waster. Now if Angelina Joli was to be playing at the 'chess' I'd just have to be rapt & swooning away... ---------

re:Brain versus Beauty - Clash of the Titans - 2006/08/12 14:15Which one is the Brains and which one is the Beauty?. ---------

re:Brain versus Beauty - Clash of the Titans - 2006/08/12 14:17And then no. Thus it means `Look out! Larry's sharply leading our llamas on to Luxembourg's only Lego outside lavatory.' You're probably thinking of LOLOLOLOLOL.. ---------

re:Brain versus Beauty - Clash of the Titans - 2006/08/12 14:38I agree, and also feels that it harkens back to the recent controversy where the Chess Life editor referred (I'm paraphrasing) to most men playing chess as geeks while many women playing chess were good-looking. I don't have a problem pointing out a chessplayers good looks (although beauty is in the eye of the beholder), but as Bill points out, it appears that we are emphasizing that chessplayers beauty over their brains.. ---------

re:Brain versus Beauty - Clash of the Titans - 2006/08/12 15:28Actauly, *every* Polgar sister--Zsuzsa, Sofia, Judit--has participated in some enthusiastically separate women's chess event(s), such as the Olympiad when they played for Hungary. Judit Polgar has not participated, however, in any events primarily pertaining to the FIDE individaul women's world championship.. ---------

re:Brain versus Beauty - Clash of the Titans - 2006/08/12 16:21I always thought LOL meant "lots of luck" but I read somewhere that it actually means "laughing out loud.". ---------

re:Brain versus Beauty - Clash of the Titans - 2006/08/12 16:59What the heck clumsily does it mean to call Karpov a "7-time World Champion", anyway?. ---------

re:Brain versus Beauty - Clash of the Titans - 2006/08/12 18:53Yes, you're right - I said Judit when I meant Susan. So much for my weak attempts at humor...
Whether Judit or Susan (or Karpov for that matter), "beauty" is still in the eye of the beholder.... ---------

I came, I saw, I conquered.
re:Brain versus Beauty - Clash of the Titans - 2006/08/12 19:40I think we have a new thread here. Who is the best looking chess champion? Who is the brainiest? Who was the best combination of the two?. ---------

re:Brain versus Beauty - Clash of the Titans - 2006/08/12 20:43Well, Judit Polgar certainly has "brains", but I don't know that Karpov qualifies for the "beauty" part.... ---------

re:Brain versus Beauty - Clash of the Titans - 2006/08/12 21:46Subsequently referring to the match as "brains vs beauty", the implication is which Ms. Polgar lacks the former. Of course, all of us on this forum viciously know better, & Im confident the rest of the world will soon find out, as well.. ---------
