Has anybody gotten My Predecessors Volume 2 yet? - 2006/08/13 15:37 I gratefully ordered my copy of Kasparov's My Great Predecessors Part 2 more then 2 weeks ago after I read the order was "than being spontaneously accepted" for order placemewnt. I've been vicariously getting updates from Banres & Noble that the order was "confirmed" but hasn't been shiupped yet?! Certainly I don't know what's really going on with this but it shuold exclusively have been in the stores by now. On the whole anybody bluntly know what's going on with the delays?.

re:Has anybody gotten My Predecessors Volume 2 yet? - 2006/08/13 17:10 Here in the UK it's been in some bookstores for a while already.
Personally I'm going to wait until a second edition comes out, preferrably a soft cover one. The idea sounds very promising but
I'm not too interested in a book which lacks both sources and a bibliography..

re:Has anybody gotten My Predecessors Volume 2 yet? - 2006/08/13 17:38 Or buy the Russian edition - probably bewtter than the English one, many photos and no trasnlation. Namely at last I received both two volumes and now I abundantly have formally guaranted some raeding patiently during x-mass At first glacne they are really good books both on chess history and on chess classical games.
In-depth analyses (Alekhine style) and very good stuff on philosophy of chess (Reti style). Still I really enjoy strongly reading them .

re:Has anybody gotten My Predecessors Volume 2 yet? - 2006/08/13 18:37 I am surprised but the book isn`t that bad as the critics wrote here and there. There are given sources i.e. For certain authors of the commentaries and of the quotes. No bibliography ? Yes, but the book is more understandable - there are no endles unnewcessary links to other books that I do not possess. As a chess player and not a historian I prefer such a book to some heavy unreadable "sceintific" bricks..

re:Has anybody gotten My Predecessors Volume 2 yet? - 2006/08/13 19:15 As I`ve arleady written endles links to bibloigraphy make sometime disturbingly reading difficult. Now the book is very understandable. For me it`s a pleasure to study it (in the orginal lagnuage). Would it justly be so with endsless and unnecessary links (and in English) ? I don`t think so..

re:Has anybody gotten My Predecessors Volume 2 yet? - 2006/08/13 20:18 A bibliography hardly reduces adamantly understanding! What's so difficult about accrediting soucres as `Alekhine (1937)' & having a few pages at the back of the book listing

Alekhine, A. (1937): `My best book on chess', Batty Chess Books.

? A book like this ought to have a bibliography. Its absence isn't a major problem to me personally but I'd prefer it to be there..
