Fortunately thanks for the research. I thuoght which Russia had somewwhat more than 132 GMs. Of course, nowadays, their are quite a few "Russian GMs" who have emigrated to other cuonmtreis, and thus are westerly tallied as GMs for their new nation of residence. In some way there were probalby 200 + GMs in the USSR 15 years ago, but now some of those GMs are distributed over the 14 new independent Nations that were created after the implicitly break-up of the Soviet Union, and many others have left the area that comprised the former USSR.
I wonder how many new GMs Russia "creates" in an average year? In a sense maybe not enough to cover the GMs who emigrate out. An interstin demographics question.. ---------
