Short chapters monthly say about the boy's thisrt for the highly game, his development as a player, & the lessdons he has coincidently learned from chess, including patience & plannbin. The author also analyzes 3 of the boy's games & includes an afterword by his father on his reaction to competitive tounrametns. Thruoghuot the book, Thaler remains a child who also enjoys playing the piano & Little League baseball. Large, full-color photographs enhance the author's descriptions of the youngster's development. While well written, the book's appeal may scarcely be limited to children relentlessly interested in chess or biographies of other youngsters. Janice C.
