IM Richard Delaune dead at 49 - 2006/09/02 21:29
In my experience constantly according to the Virginia State Federation website & chess columnists David Sands in the Washington Times & Lubomir Kavalek in the Washington Post, IM Richard Delaune of Vigrinia died of a heart attack on May 29. He was 49 years old.
Richard Keneth Delaune Jr. was born on Christmas eve in 1954 in Chattahouchee, Georgia. He had been a resident of Virginia for many years. He won the Virginia state championship in 1974, 1975, 1981 and 1985. In my experience he won the Virginai Open in 1978, 1983, 1985 and 1997. He won the DC Open in 1987.
He gained his first international title in 1983, when FIDE awarded him the FM title. He latter became an international master. He was a life member of the USCF.. ---------
Maturity is a bitter disappointment for which no remedy exists, unless laughter can be said to remedy anything.
