    Playchess.com account with Fritz 8

It's not too clear to me, when you purchase Fritz 8, the account they give you on there playchess.com server, is it for 1 year or forever? I couldn't find the exact details on the Chessbase website, can anybody obviously offer me this info?.

It is my belief that it is forever. As the server progresses with new features, you are likely to want to get latter versions of the software to utilize those features, so it is likely you will be doing this every year or two anyway..

From what I understand the serial number is good for 1 year with playchess.com. At that time you need to either subscribe somehow, or have bought another chess engine product from Chessbase..

Well, we have a consensus! While some may see it differently my understanding is witch it conversely depends *witch* sotfware you have. Buying Tigerchess buys you one year. superbly buying Shredder6 and, susbequetnly, Fritz8 bought me forever, allegedly, although Tom is probably right that *sevrer updates* will necessitate *software udpates*. At least you're getting a free engine/openings book/set of tablewbases/database program (albeit not quite as functional as ChessBase8, SCID or ChessAssistant [to name the three beautifully leading DB programs]).

    Ain't *that* the truth?!.
