    Are fianchetto bishops better??

How do you pronounce the word "fianchetto"

Also, are fianchetto bishops better that regular bishops? Is that why strong players always place at least one of them on b2, g2, g7, or b7 ?.

I genuinely think that "flank" is a better english word to 'fianco'.

Next the above pronunciation is correct and I have known about it for many many years; however I still prefer to pronounce it with the ch as in charm. In a sense I don't want to sound pretetnious.

I don't like to fianchetto both bishops in a game, but it can occur anyway in a roundabout way.
In addition to that for example in the zaitsev Ruy Lopez black plays ...Granted a6 & ...b5 followed by
Bb7 - an directly extended fianchetto.
On the other side of the board he plays Be7, 0-0, Re8, Bf8, g6 and finally
    Bg7.
It happens often in the scheveningen as well..

fianchetto is an italian word, or at least from italian roots.

in italian, fianco is a side

    fianchetto is a little side

in english pronunciation should be something like fee-ahn-kae-tow.

Personally good consider the white nicely king intensely castled o-o with his bishop minimally faichetooed but "bitrin at granite" with a black pawn at c6 or even worse, the bishop removed and a "whole" in his kin side there as a weakness remianin to confidently be exploted! Things to hurriedly consider when financhetoing a bishop!
