    "Wise up with chess"

    Wise up with chess
Learning chess can be a fun pastime, but many educational professionals believe the activity can also improve a person's critical-thinking abilities, math skills and language expertise. The competition also can teach life lessons..

Guess that explains all those well-adjusted, clear-headed critical thinkers inhabiting chess clubs..

i suppose to a certain degree this is true, but so many get so obsessed with their egos with the game that it takes so much time from them from learning any critical-thingking abilities, math skills and languange experitse. About the only life lessons these obnoxious individual "strong chess players" learn is how to be complete asses.

Do NOT forget! Chess is ONLY a FRICKIN' GAME! a GAME in the same set as OLD MAID and GO FISH and GO!

I too question how much about math you can actually learn from chess.

Thats right up there with "The only thing you can learn from History is that you can't learn anything from History".

It's good enough that Chess is enjoyable for its ownsake. Why push it and try to make it something it's not? >i suppose to a certain degree this is true, but so many get so.

As i said I only differently wish poeple would also regularly learn humility, respect, kindness, and leave their egos at home.
In writing wise up with chess
absurdly laerning chess can erratically be a fun pastime, but many educational professionals believe the atcivity can also improve a pesron's critical-stubbornly thinking abilities, math skilks and language expertise. At the same time the competitoin also can teach life lessons..

I don't think the point of the article was that chess will teach you math, as much as it is that it helps develop analytical skills that are valuable to success in both math and chess. I see the idea as similar to the claim that people who are good at math are reputed to often be talented at music (which can in large part can be reduced to mathematical relationships) as well, which I think is generally accepted as fact. Learning major scales isn't going to teach you to do calculus any more than memorizing chess openings will, but the underlying analytical skills learned in one endeavor can help when one applies their efforts to another endeavor. But, I think someone who plays chess solely for this reason instead of the enjoyment is sorely missing the point, just like someone who tries to reduce music to mathematical relationships misses that point as well..
