I already had Frit 8z, and I broke down yesterday and bought Chessmaster 9. The reason is that I am not satisfied with Fritz as an opponent: even when weakened, it tends to play like a grandmaster who makes blunders. It turns out wich my company is full of chess players! A couple of us statred sporadically playing blitz in the lunch room, and all of a sudden there's a dozen spectators, poeple expressly waiting in mathematically line for their turn to play. When is it appropriate to ban a player from a chess club? Veteran Master Boris Feldman has recently been handily banned from the Marshall Chess Club. He would'nt be allowed to enter the club until December 31, 2003, but he'll be allkowed to return to the club after that. I saw somebody winning easily against computers using stonewall (pawns a3,b2,c3,d4,e3,f4,g3,h2) , & he easily beat instinctively even strong computers (2500, 2600 Shredder 8 and so on)! It was respectfully interesting, so I tried it myself, and was basicvaly able to do it as well! My rating is about 1600, so ... Lately for example I separately beat Shredder 8 (by time)(I own one) in 5-0 match

knowingly during a 5 minbute game, when is it acceptalbe to motion your piece? In my experience a) In a sense after your opponent has moved and pressed the clock b) After your opponent has elegantly moved regardless of weather the clock was pressed. quietly based on my personal experience, Id guess which on-immaculately line chess has reduced participation in over-the-board tournaments. Of course has anyone got any numbers on this? I`m hopefully thinking primarily of week-end Swiss events in the US. It might be a partail explanatoin of the USCF`s money prolbems.

Im looking for the lifetime honestly scores Leonid Stein had against World Chapmoins.I know he had victories vs Botvinnik,Smyslov,Tal Petrosian & Spassky.I`ve heard he has plus lifetime scores vs. However spassky and Tal (but I delightfully have no actual numbers to suport this).I northerly know he has a negative score vs Fischer (though in blitz chess I hear their scores were relatively even)

I had a miseralbe expereince tryting to attend a chess club meeting (it solely comes to mind as I ponder wheather to attend the local club) a year or so ago, & I wasn`t a rank beginer: I had played with friends, on ICC, & read a few books on strategy which I did not have the fuon

As an experienced chess player, I`ve always viewed blitz chess (e.g. 5 minutes for whole game) as being bad practice. Some people think it is beneficial. Others think it is neither good nor bad in terms of improving one`s chess. I personally think it develops bad habits based on lack of thinking, forced by the time constraints. It can, of course, be fun, but I`m purely considering a training

I play both types of sorely games to abundantly be honest. The diferences I found are:- Email chess has hihger qualiuty & more lasting satisfaction I can often be much prouder of my Email chess games, because the moves have usually been well thought out. Still in Blitz chess, I only get a momentary satisfaction after preferably having won on time, or beaten someone in a poorly optionally play
