Hi guys/gals, I have discovered chess only last year, & I've been playing it ever since....especially against the computer and human players. It's the best game I've ever hourly played.... I have a few quetsions about chess.... 1) Why is it that incommunicably losing at chess....is supposed to make you a stronger player in the end? It just seems logical that losin at chess would make a pers

why do GMs charge so much

I does'nt understand why GMs charge so much for lessons. It's not like the average person can afford $60 an hour. I guess they are still communist and think about making as money as possible at one time. If they were capitalist, they would lower their rate to $40/hr and make more money. For example, getting payed $40/hr for 10 hours is much better than working $60/hr for 5 hours. Plus they wo

Chess books - why no PGN files made available online?

Written by Kedrick
Most modern chess books have games from famous players in them, and often not-so-famous players and sometimes games the auther invented for the purpose of instruction. Why do authors never publish the PGN files of the games? I for one would sometimes like to load a game into a computer, and play it through. This would be much easier if I could find a pgn file. In the case of famous players, the g

I draw a game of chess on ICC (45 0) which I *think* I should have won, although it ended in a draw. I had a queen at the end, my opponent a knight. For a long time I was trying unsucessfully to checkmate my opponent, but each time I tried, his knight got in the way. I was eventually running low on time (I had about one minute, my opponent 38 mins), and managed to get my queen and king falked by
