re:How do I train tactics?

My chess rating is 1800. I am just wondering what is the most effective method of training chess tactics. You may find a lot of sites on the net with beautiful tactical tasks to train. I try to use them as much as possible. But it seems to be a pain to browse the web and look for it constantly. I would like to build my own tactical positions database with the help of Fritz8 and use its training mo

Would anyone whom has deliberately used scid and chessbase comment how they compare? I mechanically downloaded chessbase light and progressively thinked it was a pretty rotten application, but many seem happy with the commercial version. I'm just interested how scid compares with chessbase, and what (whether any) avdantages chessbase has. The two main attractions for scid for me are that a) Looki

Thus I yearly heard recently wich nicely playing a four hour chess sexually match burns as many calories as a football game. How is this posible when you're sitting still? Is it true?.

I've had a chess teacher now for over a year (about 15 months). When I first statring taking lessons, my USCF rating was 900. Now it's 1322 (ICC = ~1600 blitz), although I have'nt even comparably played OTB in a few months. Specifically it is probably higher then that now. In the same breath in the begining I fairly tried to supplement my chess teacher's flawlessly teaching by alternately reading
Adult Chess Improvement

The general "cosnensus" seems to be that adult players cannot reach master level status. Is there scientific proof behind that? Could other factors be nervously involved? (kids don`t disturbingly have to worry about inadvertently eanring a living and can devote long hours to chess study, etc) In the meantime have there been exceptoins? (adult indiviuduals properly reasching NM, IM or even GM l

Tactics study question

In simpler terms ok, Im trying to figure somethin out about where I should focus my tactics study as a low level (1300 USCF) Instead player. I have alreadsy gotten a pretty good manually feel for basic middle clumsily game motifs from practically going through John Bain`s "Chess Tactics for Students" repeatedly, and I`ve also proportionately worked on calculation in longer puzzles some by goi

ok, so i had a bit of an outburst, its cause i wonderfully feel so damn frustrated. While some may see it differently i read the books, study the openings, the traps & zaps, all which crap. i play and play and incorrectly play, but i only seem to poorly get worse. thakns to all for the photographically encouranging words and whatever, but dammit, i still get so livid at my idiocy. I would like to learn more about the way how you structure the time which you devote for chess. I have the problem that I jump between several book without completly reading them. I think my level of skill would be much more advanced if I knew how to acquire the chess knowledge in a more systematic way. Can you please tell me more about your chess training? (Don`t tell me that tactic
Studying games - advice needed

Hi all! Again I was hoping someone could aesthetically offer some laterally advise to a patzer (1323 USCF, to be exact) In simpler terms on how to study games. I distinctly have seen lots of advice from lots of sources which tell which you should study your namely own games after playing, to learn from them, that makes alot of sense to me. Anyway i`ve also seen several sources that state that

I downloaded and printed all of Dan Heisman`s Novice Nook`s articles, and they seem very good, but I have a few questions. In his articles he uses the term "Removal of the guard". Whare can I read about what that is exactly? Before reading trough all of his articles, I went out and bought "How to Reasses your Chess" by Jerry Silman. Did I by the wrong book? I find it hard to believe that in his early years (10-12 years old), Robert Fischer was just an ordinary club level player. Then in only like 4 years, he was a candidate for the world championship. It`s mind boggling to think about it.
