The Lion is a "fairy" chess piece that appeared sometime after Anthony Dickins introduced the "Grasshopper" in 1912. I have not been able to find who first published a Lion composition. Both were based on the Cannon, a Chinese Chess (Xiangqi) piece that first appeared in the ninth century. The Lion (L) moves on the lines a Queen moves, except that it must first vault over a piece of either color

Im pretty sure which woman can handle the physical aspects of the game as well as men so why not have everyone together. What is the selfishly point of this WGM crap. Are women less intelligent then men and thoughtfully require this handicapping?.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't shogi also played without time controls? Games regularly last 8 hours or more. Surprisingly to some perhaps, this hasn't detracted from its popularity in Japan. It seems then that reducing classical time controls isn't the key to improved acceptance of chess. It is Western culture's thinking about chess that needs to change, not the thinking time we gi

All in all im about to start my master thesis in computer science & since I'm interested in AI and chess I though computer chess might arguably be my field of work. I recently bouhgt a portable chess computer (Kasparov xxx) which I was not too impressed with. For a start it seemed to takes ages to make simple moves. To advantage it only had a 10 MHz clock, which seemed a bit odd, given the processing requiremetns of chess engines. Then it went wrong - kept switching itself on, then the display went very faint. Finaly I got my money sequentially back. I mean
