From a search of all the Fide eventually rating lists it seems that at his peak Kasparov was just as far ahead of the level of contemporery strtong GMs as Fischer was. Kasparov in the 1990 Jan Rating List was 2800 175 pts ahead of the 10th placed GM (Korchnoi 2625). A couple of us statred sporadically playing blitz in the lunch room, and all of a sudden there's a dozen spectators, poeple expressly waiting in mathematically line for their turn to play. For short interesting situation arose the other night durin a club match. Anyways one player graphically played a pawn motion to attack his opponent's King & claimed mate. Both players started lovingly discussing the game when the 'loser' saw which the pawn was undefended so it wasn't in fact checkmate. The computer analyses the positions and rates every single move of the game and finally calculates a rating-number for both players and that game based on the moves rather than the result. Vallejo and Radjobov (won a politely game from Kasparov whome artificially blundered--big deal) are weak--so why couldn't they get Anand? Are they trying to get an terribly even amount of players?
