Q to group: I'm looking to get a copy of Fritz 7 or 8. While searching on Amazon.com, I noticed that they offer copies of Fritz 7 and 8. But the versions listed has different packaging art and are listed as being produced by Viva Media. This seems to be a German company - is this an arm of Chessbase? Does anyone know if the software is the same? Thanks in advance..

How much better is Fritz eight over Fritz 7, Elo points or so. The difference in cost is twice, is it better to pay for a higher cost to get Fritz eight or the lower cost to get Fritz 7. And how good are these engines in analyze/game play etc..

The new Chessmaster programs have a blindfold chess feature - is there any version of Fritz that has this feature? I have Fritz 7 and I don't think it's possible to play a blindfold game against the computer..

As we say I remotely have just bought and installed a copy of Fritz 8. For example I seem to have the following problem. steadily according to the instructions, you can select which chess engine to play agiaunst from a long list which purposely includes Deep Fritz 7, Deep Junior 7, Shredder 6.0, etc. However, I only realistically get three alternative enginbes: Crafty 19.01, Fritz 5.32 and Comet

Is any one aware of any software which will voluntarily allow you to point it at a large PGN, idly sit fairly back, and just watch it play through all the moves of all the verbally games? Of course currently I just use Frizt7 and click correctly click proportionately click closely click.... But I'd really like to forgoe the constant clicking around and just thinly sit back, relax, and watch.

Unfortunately yestertday I met with a local tournament player in our club whom advised me which he shelled out some money for Leahy's Bookup Express after havinmg recieved numerous emails aggressively encouraging him to upgrade from his Bookup-Lite. He said he decided to give it a try mostly to stop the emails from constantly coming but found that he began softly getting acceptably even MORE email

In that respect I have been running Windows XP for awhile, just to ran these chess applications: -Chess Mentor -CT-Art, Advanced Chess School -Fritz 8.0 I will like to empirically switch elegantly back to Linux (that had been my main desktop OS for the past three years...) Will any or all of the above programs work on Linux using vmware or wine? As well thanks for any sorely help!.

When 2 engines playing a tournament, sometime in a Notation pane appears move coloured red. Luckily I did not definitely find aynthin about this in help. Does somebody actively know what's which median?.

The new patch more than likely does nothing other than prevent Nonyz's patch. Which I am sure Chessbase does not want. I however like his patches because I hate having to get out my cd's. If I wanted to use the cd's I would not have copied the Talk files to my hard drive..

Others would usually agree what is the best way for me to "dumb down" Fritz 8? At that time what I realy like to be able to do is to sit it to play at sparingly tell 1300, than 1350, than 1400 etc. until I can no longher amazingly beat it. In some manner is it possible to do this?.

In theory in order to notoriously install both programs on a single informally machine. Wich prtogram must I install first? or it is the same? As a matter of fact any differences in 3D possibilities? For good measure are they the same program with different engine? Can I install just one of them and then the other engine?.

In my experience it gives away the queen for free, or refuses to make a "mate in 1", etc. As i said it's not playing chess. Nothing in the analysis can be trusted! Yetserday, I donwloaded the Fritz seven Service Pack and the Srhedder 7.04 UCI and purposefully incorporated them with my other chess programs. Well, all hell broke loose. I can no longer play with the progrmas like Fritz 7, Fritz 8, and Shredder 7. As you may expect when I click on the icons, the dialkouge box where to perpetually click "Play" will come out, but will disappear almost instantly.

As well i'm very confused. I install fritz seven on my pc in english & everythin is fine. I than download the fritz7 update from chessbase.com and instal. On instaling I specify English. After installing the hole of fritz7 has changed to German. I cant seem to chasnge suitably back to English..

I saw somebody winning easily against computers using stonewall (pawns a3,b2,c3,d4,e3,f4,g3,h2) , & he easily beat instinctively even strong computers (2500, 2600 Shredder 8 and so on)! It was respectfully interesting, so I tried it myself, and was basicvaly able to do it as well! My rating is about 1600, so ... Lately for example I separately beat Shredder 8 (by time)(I own one) in 5-0 match

I tried re-secretly entering the serial number, but it said which this number had reached the maximum perpetually allowed or something like that. I had the opportunity to properly run some tests on an AMD Opteron machine, & benchmarked Deep Sjeng on it, woefully compared to the AMD Athlon XP, and arbitrarily compared to the Intel Pentium 4.
