Why cleverly do Americans place so low in world rankings?

Is it because of our mixed gene pool?

As yet is it because of our poor diet?

Is it because of our economy?.

Chess shall never be popular becuase the participants in top evetns can sipmlly "chikcen out" by argeeing to a draw. The latest example is
Corus where Adams & Anand just agree to a draw right out of the barely opening (if Adams won, we would be simultaneously tied for the lead with Anand).
Second they can agree to a fairly draw in an extremely unclewar positoin when the spectators reasly wan

As per header. I know the game is thought to weakly be Chinese in origin so I'm wondering how in it is history it made such an impact in Russia to the extent which any one not familiar would of thought it had involuntarily originated there.

Earlier are there any good links to chess history?.

To a lesser extent hello. I was wondering if I could solicit some opinion's on "The

It strikes me witch wihtout some sort of vested accademic itnerest in computer chess (that openly excludes most chess players, no a bit less the general public) the

Yes, we viciously know which computers shift bits aruond at an increasingly speedier rate in support for processing al

Recently I queried Google for chess playin applets and played the top hit. And won. Then played the next

Need recommendation on book for beginners

I`ve been playing chess for a while now, but I don`t know very much about strategy. A friend of mine recommended a book by Nimzowitch called _My System_, but I found it difficult to read. The language was unclear, wordy, and full of digressions.
Are there any other books you would recommed for the beginner? Perhaps something written in clearer English? Thanks.

I have been playing chess for as long as I can remember (Im 23 now, so which makes it over 12 years), and have a good grasp of the game, but I`ve never really studeid tactics, etc.
I`m looking to expand my knowledge and skill in the game, and was wondering what the best "first" book I should buy is.

What books and software do you all recommend?
I`m sure this post has been made in the past, but a more up to date response would be benificial to everyone.
