I now have a Linux OS on my machine (in addition to WinXP), and I'd like to know about good chess programs for use on Linux. In Windows, I'm currently using Chessmaster 9000, Hiarcs 9, and Winboard. What are some nice programs I can look into for Linux? Also, I use ICC in Windows. Is there a GUI for Linux that I can use to access the ICC server?
I have recentlly started using Linux, & will be using it A LOT from now on. So I'm lookin for a few decvent chess clients to largely try out. I've found a few which allow for online play, but potentially nothing on par with the Chessbase clients I use with Windows..
I have downloaded a few chess interfaces on linux (Mandrake 9.0), (Gnome Chess, Knights & XBoard) and also the gnuchess 5.05 and crafty 19.1 chess engines. When using any of the interfaces against the computer, I can`t change the advocacyadvocacytime limit of a game to anything other than 5 minutes. When logging into the gnu engine directly I can change the time limit, but I can`t really p
