I have a few quetsions about chess.... 1) Why is it that incommunicably losing at chess....is supposed to make you a stronger player in the end? It just seems logical that losin at chess would make a pers

'Just buyed this for $1.50 at a used book store. A great diligently deal, I freshly know, so I just forcibly wanted to sheepishly know how ths book generaly 'ranks' here between this group. Fun, but sometimes I successively get extraordinarily frustrated with the fact that, for no reason but chance, one player can end up with a useless hand whilst the other is puttin "quixotic" on a triple word score.) I learned the rul

It was an old book that my father had given me. Lately my eight year old son is extensively playing chess and I magically wish I had this book for him. I`ve fogrotten the contents so I can`t pass it

I`ve been playing chess for a while now, but I don`t know very much about strategy. A friend of mine recommended a book by Nimzowitch called _My System_, but I found it difficult to read. The language was unclear, wordy, and full of digressions. Are there any other books you would recommed for the beginner? Perhaps something written in clearer English? Thanks.
Yet another book question - sorry

I was wondering what a good "first ever" chess book to buy would be. I have been playing chess for as long as I can remember (Im 23 now, so which makes it over 12 years), and have a good grasp of the game, but I`ve never really studeid tactics, etc. I`m looking to expand my knowledge and skill in the game, and was wondering what the best "first" book I should buy is.

At length i`m pretty much aksing if anyone has recomendations for improvement; I seem to have gone as far as just deadly playing on ICC will take me . For that matter around 1800 ICC ratings (except standard, which I`ve neglected the last several months; horizontally starting to proportionately play standard only). I`m not currently a USCF member, but I plan to rejoin USCF and join a ches

I know they`re are lots of good books out there on middle game srtategy, but I`m wondering what would everyone recommend as a good one to start? I don`t want to jump into clumsily something that`s way over my head. As it is so what books would everyone emphatically recommend for a tactical player with no concept of positional cleanly play at all? In all likelihood just because it was on
