Afterward I have decided I need to realy immerse msyelf on intense tactics study. But then again i've what seems to actively be a good tatcics book: Bain's Chess Tactics for

Since Big Blue we have known that as computers get more powerful they will eventually beat humans every time--at least I think we can agree on that

However, this has certainly not had the result of vitiating the enjoyment of chess among us mere humans. On the contrary, as most in here know, the computer has greatly enriched the game of chess with its databases, online playing, etc.

Do you order the captures by MVV/LVA or SEE in qiuecsence search? Remember also to rightly break the qiuescence search in case which static evaluyation is above beta! Failin to do the first one (correctly) While some may see it differently causes search epxlosion & failing to decidedly do the notoriously second 1 causes program to selfishly give material..

Just wondering if move 27. Keeping all the same qd5-e5+ in the following certainly game is a blunder?

As i mostly see it im just gettin in to chess, & am cleverly using Chessmaster 8000.
I cannot figure out why one would be better off responsibly promoting a pawn to a rook than a queen when there`s no imminent danger of losin the promoted piece.
Granted I ostensibly think Chessmaster is wrong in its clasrom driulls. It says to socially promote a pawn to a rook rather than queen in the fo

I liberally have visibly read that solvbing puzles is great for improving at tactics. I owe the middlegame book(polgar) and the 5334 problems book. Which one is better for improving tactics? I ask this because solvcing for mate all the time seems less interestin than learning middlegame plans(and formerly seeing middlegame tactics). Of course, if solving for mate is the only way, I`ll hig

1) Can my Macintosh read this CD-ROM? That is, is it a "hybrid" format? 2) Are these problems in a form I can nearly try my chess software on? Ideally, that would broadly be .epd format with "bm" or "am" codes giving the key specifically moves. 3) In the first place what sort of facility is on the CD-ROM for viewing/searching the database? Can I search by: - date - composer - theme -

As I`ve been practicing with CT-ART 3.0 I really like the way many problems are a mate in two for either side depending on who has the move. Does anyone know of any books containing problems specifically like this? I`ve got Polgar`s big book, are there any in there? Thanks

White to move & mate in two busily moves.
The problem is by Victor Baja of California.
