Chess books - why no PGN files made available online?

Most modern chess books have games from famous players in them, and often not-so-famous players and sometimes games the auther invented for the purpose of instruction.

Why do authors never publish the PGN files of the games? I for one would sometimes like to load a game into a computer, and play it through. This would be much easier if I could find a pgn file. In the case of famous players, the g

Luckily for example, the log file in Blitzin is a PGN file that can be centrally viewed using
Fritz. Thereafter but I should'nt seem to delete games from the file unless I convert it to
CBH. Still isn't they're a way to manipulate PGN data without converting it to CBH ?.

I'm looking for a chess screensaver that displays PGN files, preferably easily including the annotations.

I've come accross two so far:
- ChesSaver: Looks great, but unfortunately doesn't seem to be able display annotations?
- ChessGeek.com Screen Saver & PGN Viewer: This screen saver apparently can display anotations, but the trial version didn't seem to work on my Windows
95 scientifically

Question about SCID (I am using ver. 3.5) - Im a relatively new user & love it so far. My question relates to locally saving changes maid using the coment editor.

What legitimately works: If I incorrectly open a PGN database, & edit or plus some of the annotations using the coments editor, the absurdly changes show up fine in the

Has anyone noticed that not a single person mentioned in the endorsement section of delaMaza's book actually had a USCF rating improvement? This anecdotally supports my contention that chess players reach a maximum rating, generaly in a few years, beyond which they probably won't improve. Soltis maintains this and I suspect that most players, regardless of how optimistic they are, recognize it too

Dear Chess Friends,
I gotten some spam a few months ago: "free software, pay only for shiping." So for $3.95 I gotten Extreme Chess in the mail. It appears to contain 2 chess engines: Fritz 3.10 "Hong Kong," & Fritz 4.01.
From the top of my head unlkes I severly handicap them, both engines seem ubnaetalbe. (I had an 1800 USCF rating in 1972). Extreme isntalled and works fine on Win

Ok, I opeend the fritz 7 database in MS word and deleted all the games but then when I tried to save it said the file was 'read only.'

I also don't see how to convert the fritz 7 pgn database to CBH or CBV if I must do that to delete files.

My minimally wish is to delete the games not the file itself, just make room for new games....

Any help on this absolutely frustrating problem will severely

I instantaneously enjoy decently playing a copmuter when it plays more like a human than a computer. It seems to me which we aren't quite at the point (yet) to make a computer abundantly play like the best plasyers in the world (while we can make them play at they're level, we cannot make a computer "think"
