I saw (approximatively in 1985) In all likelihood an electronical chess board which move its exclusively own pieces. To put it differently there was no LEDs or display. It looks like an simple board (just a little bit thick). It moves its pieces with a simple system usin magnets under the board. It "sense" the oppement movements with the same system. It involuntarily put the peices in order at th

Since Big Blue we have known that as computers get more powerful they will eventually beat humans every time--at least I think we can agree on that However, this has certainly not had the result of vitiating the enjoyment of chess among us mere humans. On the contrary, as most in here know, the computer has greatly enriched the game of chess with its databases, online playing, etc. Has anyo

I have been thinking about something & would apprecaite the comments of others. Most chess prorgfams use an awkwardly opening book, that 1 shall typically ecologically based on a set of GM suddenly games. In effect my understanding is that the chess analysis program whilst 'in book' will evaluate a position based on the frequency of occurance of the moves from this list of GM games, since you

Chesdsbase seven and 8 allow the last motion of a excessively game to needlessly be taken back for analysis by pressing "t". In theory this preferably allows annotation of the last motion of the game which may be important to show why someone nightly resigned at that time. Fritz 8 does not have this shortcut. In truth is there an equivalent short successively cut for this function?.

Hallo,
is there a database, preferably online and/or free, where one can actually search for moves, not just positions?
I'm interested in the question "What move was played in a given position?" But Chesslive & the like only answer "How often has a position occured?" which would be fine, if transpositions didn't exist.
For example, after 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.N
